“Oh my God Brittany?” “You were thinking it!” “But you said it!”
Do you remember what movie this is from? I can’t believe my opening line is a quote from White Chicks but this is so me. I say what most people won’t. Quite often, I pray for God to hold my tongue and seal my lips. For God’s sake can I get a filter?? This is why I started a blog. I found many sites regarding décor and design, fashion, food, lifestyle, health & fitness, and spirituality and I love each of these subjects and follow some terrific blogs. But I haven’t found one that reveals the process of a woman’s life from the beginning to after Christ gets a hold of her. So, I decided it’s time to talk about real life, real issues, and more importantly real progress.
By no means am I an expert but I’ve experienced more than I would have chosen to.
The best way to explain where I’m at in life is through these verses:
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ.
~ Philippians 3:12-14 (NIV)
I am a Christian, wife, mother, retired Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy, and praise God some call me friend. I have a big mouth and a big heart. I am tough and believe in reasons rather than excuses mostly because I had to. I value life because so much has been taken from me. I have learned a lot yet have so far to go. I will tell you stories that I promise will make you say, “If she can do it, I can do it.”
Life can be messy and hard and the greatest blessings also bring the most diligent maintenance. Being a wife, mama, SINGLE mama, friend, you name it, takes freaking work but gosh it yields the greatest joy. So as I share the truth of my life, I pray you’ll be moved and inspired and realize you are not alone! No matter how tough, sad, lonely, exciting, or joyful your current circumstance may be things always change including people and feelings. But one thing that never changes is the love and provision Jesus provides. A well-watered rose bush is certain to bloom flowers, sure the thorns and scars remain but the sweet smelling and beautiful petals are what’s noticed.
